Four-year-old mare Fifty Five Reborn proved too fast and far too tough for her older and more experienced rivals when she led all the way and scored a strong victory in the 2536m Retravision, Lowest Price Guarantee Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
“She’s just very honest and nothing fazes her,” said trainer-reinsman Colin Brown. “Her trackwork has been very good for a long time and she came out of the gate a lot better tonight.”
The WA-bred Fifty Five Reborn, second favourite at $4.20, was untroubled to set the pace and she revealed excellent speed to dash over the final quarters in 27.9sec. and 27.8sec. to record a good mile rate of 1.57.4.
Antero, the $2.80 favourite, maintained his rich vein of form when he settled down in seventh position before dashing forward to work in the breeze for the final two laps. He fought on gamely to finish second.
